After graduation from Grants Pass High School in 1991, David spent 3 Years in the US Army as a 37F, Psychological Operations Specialist (Airborne). Part of Special Operations Command, he was assigned to Fort Bragg, with deployments to Alaska, Thailand, Somalia, and Korea; training and operating with the 2nd Infantry Division, 10th Mountain Division, 25th Infantry Division, and the 82nd Airborne Division. He also trained at the Defense Language Institute-East, becoming fluent in Korean.

Following discharge David moved to Seoul, Korea where he lived and worked as a missionary, teaching in the Korean language for 2 years. Upon return from Korea, he and his now wife, Amanda Brown, were married in 1996 and returned to Grants Pass, Oregon. While working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and then Administrator in Training (AIT), he graduated in 2001 from Weber State University in Utah, with a Dual Major BS in Healthcare Administration and Gerontology. Upon graduation he obtained his license to practice as a Nursing Home Administrator. David has worked in an array of facilities throughout the United States; large and small, in both rural and metropolitan areas. He completed Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2008. He has dedicated his career to serving seniors in skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers.

As a veteran, his work with aging Veterans has been his labor of love. As an administrator he successfully led State Veterans Home operations in Washington, Hawaii, and now Oregon. The return to Oregon also provides many opportunities to reconnect more frequently with their four adult children.
