Used by the National Parks Service for patrolling Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, this 2008 Harley Davidson Electra-Glide Police Special was purchased from state surplus by the Veterans Care Centers of Oregon (VCCO) for the purpose of creating a bold symbol to honor veterans.

The beautiful restoration of the bike was facilitated by John Barker of Combat Hero Bike Build of Grants Pass with the work done by Mark Daley of Thunderstruck Customs in Medford. It was completed in early-2019.  The graphic design on the bike is a representational tribute to the honorable service of veterans from all five military branches.  A VCCO challenge coin is also embedded on the bike in two locations.

The bike has been ridden in parades including the Albany Veterans Day parade. It has also been on display at both of Oregon’s Veterans Homes in The Dalles and Lebanon, at the state capitol during the legislative session, and at other veteran-centric events and activities statewide where appropriate and requested.

The VCCO is privileged to provide this symbolic salute to the service of our men and women in uniform. The bike is a beautiful and proud reminder of the brave dedicated service and sacrifice of America’s veterans and their families.
